Escape rooms challenge players to solve puzzles, uncover hidden clue and work together to break free in a set time limit. At Escape Room 66, we've watched tens of thousands of players. Here's ten tips from our Game Masters that can help you conquer any escape room.
1. Communicate
Tell your team what you find and listen to others' ideas. You may be convinced of a solution, but your teammate may have another way of seeing the puzzle that works.
2. Divide and conquer
For harder rooms it's a great idea to break into smaller teams to attack puzzles. Just make sure to come back and explain what you did to the rest of the team so they don't try and solve the same puzzle.
3. Search the room
Often what's keeping you from solving a puzzle is an item right under your nose, in a drawer or on a shelf.
4. Watch your time
In rooms like INKSIDIOUS, where there are a lot of fun puzzles and an incredible set, it's important that you keep a pace so that you can get everything done.
5. Get a clue if you're stuck
Escape rooms like Prison Break at Escape Room 66 have a LOT of fun puzzles. If you're stuck a clue can help you move along so that you experience everything in the room.
6. Think outside the box
Our Wicked Wonderland escape room is a perfect example of a room where you need to literally - think outside the box. Solutions in any escape room may not be obvious so look at things another way if you're perplexed.
7. Stay organized
In escape rooms with a lot of objects, create a centralized area for items you've collected and put them aside once you're finished with them.
8. Work together
At Escape Room 66, we tell every team to work together before they enter the room. In The Mush Room, you actually have to decide how important a team member is to your escape. It's the most important part of doing a room but in their excitement, some teams forget to work as a team.
9. Switch it up
If you get frustrated on a puzzle, try moving onto something else. A new perspective can be helpful.
10. HAVE FUN
The reason you're playing is to challenge your brain and have fun with family and friends. Whether you escape or not, make sure you're taking in the whole experience.
Happy Escaping!
